Overview 

ReNew, a Nasdaq-listed renewable energy company, develops and operates a diversified portfolio of solar, wind, hybrid and emerging clean energy projects across India. The scale and geographic spread of these assets, along with varied policy structures, claim processes, and team ownership, led to inefficiencies in managing insurance coverage.
In the absence of a unified digital platform, claims, policy lifecycle management, premium tracking, endorsement handling, and multi-role governance were managed through fragmented processes, limiting standardization and operational visibility.
APPWRK partnered with ReNew to design and develop a configurable, SaaS-based insurance operations platform that centralized all core functions into a single governed system. Built to support multiple user roles, the platform streamlined end-to-end workflows and enabled real-time analytics across financial and departmental dimensions, strengthening both operational efficiency and governance.

Challenges: Operational and Governance Gaps Constraining ReNew’s Insurance Management 

  • Fragmented Claims Management Across Asset Portfolios

The absence of a centralized system to lodge, track, and manage insurance claims across renewable energy asset categories resulted in disconnected operational records with no unified claims registry. 

  • Undefined Multi-Role Workflow for Claims Processing

Without a structured workflow governing the sequential responsibilities of field staff, verification teams, administrators, and brokers, claims processing lacked clear ownership and accountability at each lifecycle stage. 

  • No Unified System for Premium and Policy Administration

Premium deposit data and policy records were managed outside any common platform, creating gaps in financial tracking and policy lifecycle continuity across operating departments. 

  • Inability to Monitor Claim Aging and Pending Reasons

The organization had no mechanism to track claim aging across defined time bands or identify the root causes behind pending claims, limiting management’s ability to intervene and accelerate resolution.

Without a configurable access governance framework, there was no reliable method to restrict portal access across the multiple teams and energy segments operating within the organization.

Endorsement records and supporting documentation were not managed within a common workflow, creating operational disconnects between policy amendments and the underlying claim and premium records.

The breadth of insurance coverage requirements spanning solar, wind, hydro, marine, transmission, and manufacturing asset categories demanded a single configurable platform that did not previously exist.

Built on CodeIgniter, the unified SaaS-based insurance operations platform delivered a single configurable environment consolidating all insurance functions across ReNew’s renewable energy departments. 

  • Structured Four-Role User Hierarchy Implementation

Site Persons, Center Spoke Team members, Administrators, and Brokers were organized into a role-based hierarchy that defined and enforced sequential responsibilities across the complete claims lifecycle. 

  • Full-Cycle Claims Management Module Delivery

Field-level claim lodgment, center-level verification, lifecycle status tracking, and data export in Excel and CSV formats were all supported within the purpose-built claims management module. 

  • Advanced Premium Deposit Tracking Module

Centralized within the platform, the Advanced Premium Deposit module maintained a continuously updated register of all client-submitted premiums, enabling consistent and auditable premium lifecycle tracking. 

  • Criteria-Based Policy Administration Module

Criteria-based policy creation, structured listing of active policies, and full export capability were delivered through the policy administration module across all operating departments and product lines. 

  • Integrated Endorsement Management Module

Structured creation, categorized listing, and export of endorsement records were consolidated within a dedicated module, maintaining operational continuity between policy amendments and associated claim records. 

  • Group-Based Permission and Access Governance System

Department-specific access rights across nine distinct energy segments were governed through a configurable group-level permission system, enforcing precise access boundaries across all roles and operational functions. 

  • Highcharts-Powered Claims Analytics Dashboard

Claim settlement history, status distribution, department-wise volumes, pending claim reasons, and aging slab data were surfaced through an interactive Highcharts-powered analytics dashboard within a single interface. 

  • Policy-Wise Financial Intelligence Dashboard

Department-wise premium distribution, material damage and business interruption sum insured values, and combined total sum insured figures were made accessible through a dedicated policy analytics dashboard.
